A Small Club in Ohio Might Have Cracked the Junior Pipeline

No academy, no budget — just a Tuesday night and a formula bigger programs keep overlooking.

The room is eight tables in a strip mall, and on Tuesday nights it belongs entirely to the juniors. What started as one coach's experiment has quietly produced three regional champions and a waiting list.

The Formula Nobody Expected

There is no curriculum. Kids play short races against adults, keep their own score, and rotate partners every week. The secret ingredient, the coach insists, is that nobody ever makes them stop having fun.

Can It Travel?

Other clubs have tried to copy the model with mixed results. The ones that fail, the coach says, are the ones that add structure — medals, ladders, pressure. The juniors can smell a lesson being taught a mile away.
